Some of the differences between high school and Zoom University is way we interact with each other. For example, in high school we would be seated in tables so that we would interact with each other but in Zoom University you are not forced to talk if you do not want to. Additionally, in Zoom we do not know how everyone looks since some people turned off their cameras. However, Zoom University and high school is similar in that we would have to show up to class to learn and teachers would still hold lectures.

A non-place online environment is different from Minecraft because you do not have to interact with everyone on the app. For example, we use social media to post what we are currently doing but it is not required to interact with them after we see their post, but in Minecraft, we have to interact to know what we are doing. The ways that it is similar though is that there would have to be multiple people participating to make it more interactive.

A physical place is similar to Minecraft because they are both ways to interact with friends by doing something and by talking directly to them. However, it is different because you can hear the voices of who is talking but you don’t know how they look like since it is not required to show your face. The physical place gives me memories from seeing who we may be actually talking to and socializing through shared experiences. In the virtual place we can come together to do things that are not possible in the physical world without a license like making a house or mining for gems.

Conclusions: This has given me some new thoughts on the Idea of Place because it allows us to interact without having to see each other face to face. Because of this experience I had, I feel like it is possible to find a place experience of some degree even though it is not everything we think about when hanging out with people.

Instagram and Facebook cannot be MMORPGs because each person isn’t given a role. Although, they can be multiplayer, the show can still go on without everyone being present there and now. It is just used for communication or updates on life.

Real life can be a MMORPG depending on the situation. If you play a game outside like a scavenger hunt or hide and seek, that would be a similar experience to MMORPG but just hanging out with your friends at a location is considered a game since we are there to talk and catch up while being entertained.
